FreeRTOS Interactive

Simple project that demonstrates FreeRTOS running on a PSoC5 device from Cypress, specifically the CY8C5588AXI-060 part that is found as part of their development kit. Do not currently have a port for the first touch kit but that should be coming soon as they utilize the same device (I think). Any questions or comments feel free to respond here.

An additional note about this project. IT's come to my attention that PSOC Creator does not use relative paths for the "Additional Include Directories" under the Compiler options so you will have to manually update these to the correct paths for your FreeRTOS directories before it will compile correctly.

i just got a PSOC5 myself and new to freeRTOS. I do not see a port for cypress in the list, which ARM port did you use?

I will try that. Am I able to use the .c and .h files from the freeRTOS distribution as is? I wasn't sure if there was anything processor specific.

It looks like you haven't yet respecified where the additional include files are located for your project yet. If you look at the first comment in this thread you'll see instructions on how to do that.
OK, it's fixed. It's a path problem.
From PSoC Creator menu: Projects -> Build Settings -> Compiler -> Additional Include Directories need to create the new paths
to ...\include and ...\portable\GCC\ARM_CM3 directories. Pity. nobody told me before.

I'm going to develop a project which require a RTOS and I'm looking to use Freertos and PSoc 5, but I'm not sure I won't find problems because it is a "Community contribuition" instead of an official port...Can you explain me which problems I could find in using this solution?Thanks for your help

Hi Andrea,
The biggest problem would be a limited number of people using the port so with regards to any unusual problems you may run into it's a lot tougher to get answers.
That being said, the port that is up right now does compile and run out of the box (as long as you make the appropriate include path changes) and includes all the base functionality of FreeRTOS. What you do from there is up to you, but from what I've seen so far it runs well on the PSOC 5.

I'm not familiar with PSoc Creator enviroment can you help me?(The attached file contains the project with the LCD added, maybe there are some error in the enviroment settings....)

I tried to solve by creating a new project with the same files, but compling I get some errors: the updated cyboot generates a file called core_cm3_psoc5.h in which IRQn is redeclared...How should I solve?

Ok, I solved by "updating" back to the 1.40 version of cyboot...is there any other way to solve so I'll be albe to use the latest version?

Also the error with the LCD component was caused by a problem with the version of cyboot....

Just to let you know that the Cypress FirstTouch port works.
Had to rewire the led pins, all happily flashing away as expected.
Have not been able to do further tests as I'm travelling at the moment.

I recently found myself in need of a simple starting point for using FreeRTOS 7.3.0 on a PSOC 5 and updated Joe's example for use with PSOC Creator version 2.2 and both the CY8CKIT-050 and CY8CKIT-014 (PSOC First Touch) development kits. I have included the updated projects in this post. Each archive includes a readme.txt file containing build instructions. I hope that others will find these a useful starting point for PSOC5/FreeRTOS projects.
